161.4

To most of you this number means absolutely nothing, but to me it is my seriuosly unfortunate post pregnancy weight. I don't mean to be a debby downer but I really have no clue how I got here, I mean I "know" what I did but I have no clue what happened to get me on the fast track to here.

Let me start out with a summary of my 18 month journey to here: September 26, 2010. I received wonderful news in May 2009 that my husband & I were 4 weeks pregnant & would be expecting a bundle of joy in January 2010. Almost immediately after this I was hit by full blown morning sickness, we're talking eat pretzels & crackers before getting out of bed, lying on the couch all day, crackers, pretzels, ginger ale diet because I will upchoke if meat enters my frame of view or 1 of my highly sensitive nostrils. So in this time, from 4 weeks -16weeks I lost 20 pounds due to my low food intake, the only good thing was that baby *poppy* was growing just the way he should. I continued at the same weight, not gaining anything until I gave birth, which thereafter I lost 20 more pounds. Post pregnancy I felt & looked great(per everyone else) because I had lost 40pounds & now I just feel so bad. I know that I feel sick most of the time because of the weight & I'm completely aware that if I lost 30 pounds that I would be happy & healthy.

My current stats are 5' 161.4lbs, & healthy should be between 118-126lbs. I know exactly what I need to do because I've done it before through weight watchers(lost 30 pounds), but this time I want to keep it off. I am constantly going through the battle with myself of eating nothing or just fruits & vegetables to see quick results, but I know that's not the way for long term weight loss, it's not fast, quick, or easy to lose the weight that has taken me 3 years to put on, 9 months to take off, & 9 months to put some back on again.

Since this is my "everything" blog I will be posting about my weight, sometimes daily to make myself accountable & hopefully I can make some friends along the way, but it will also be about my learnings as a 1st time mom, wife, & home owner. That said, I look forward to making some new friends along the way & hopefully entertaining some folks through my journey.

  1. I just found your blog from Bloggy Moms. Hang in there!! I currently have 100 lbs to lose. I started 2 years ago with 150 to lose. It's been slow going & hard, but eventually I'll get back to where I want to be. I've been at least somewhat overweight since our first daughter was born in 2000 & went up from there. I actually watched what I ate w/ our 2nd daughter & didn't gain much at all w/ her, but then I gained more b/c of emotional things (losing my mom & both my in-laws within a few years of each other) - and my highest weight was 306 pounds in 2008. I'm now at 258 and would like to get down to 155 ultimately. I'm 5'9".

I have a "healthy life" blog - http://www.healthylifejourney.com/ - if you want to check it out. I only update it about once a week now because I started college again and started a blog for that. That blog is http://www.odysseyofamomscholar.net/ if you want to check it out. I update it daily currently.

Ok, now that you think I'm a nut...
I know a lot of mom bloggers who are trying to shed those pounds. I've heard that livestrong.com (I think) works really well and I think it's free.
Anyhoodles...it's tough but you can do it!!!
